Wow! Many, many memories of Eric as a young man (teenager). Lots of them are of times when he would minister to his peers with just a smile, or maybe with the way that he loved and welcomed them with his attitude, posture and words. With Eric there were no "social clicks". Everyone was welcome. I think this had something to do with the way he was raised, because I saw the same sort of thing in Brittany. Two days ago (May 31st) I'm floating in Patrick Henry Lake awaiting the boat to pull me up out of the water and my mind (and emotions) went back to the first time Amy and I took Eric to the lake with us. He told me that he had never water skied, but really wanted to try it. So we get out there and he's over the side of the boat and in the water before I can even get through telling him all the instructions of the "how to" water ski. In typical Eric fashion he proceeded to come right up and get it on the first try, and very soon thereafter, like in an hour or so, he was slalom skiing. Don't remember him falling all day long, or any of the weekends for the rest of the summer now that I think of it. Among a lot of other things, I don't think I will ever go to the lake or snow skiing that I won't think about Eric and all the great times we had togeather. Thank you Bob and Sharron for sharing your son with Amy and myself. We were and are blessed to have spent so much time with him hanging out and ministering togeather during those years. |
